Rigid Fibreglass Sectional Pipe Insulation for HVAC & Industrial Pipework

Fibreglass Sectional Pipe Insulation (SPI) is a high-performance thermal insulation solution designed for commercial, industrial, and HVAC pipework applications.

Manufactured from rigid glass mineral wool and pre-formed into one-piece cylindrical sections, SPI provides excellent thermal efficiency by minimising heat loss and maintaining system performance. It is suitable for both hot and cold service applications, with operating temperatures up to approximately 350°C.

The sectional format allows for quick and consistent installation on straight pipe runs, making it a practical and reliable choice for mechanical services and process systems. SPI is available in a range of diameters and insulation thicknesses to suit different pipe sizes and project requirements.

Optional foil-faced finishes are available to provide additional protection and improved durability in exposed or demanding environments.

Fibreglass Sectional Pipe Insulation (SPI) Specifications

APPLICATION

Suitable for use on commercial and industrial pipework systems where thermal performance, fire safety, and durability are required.
SPI can be used on both hot and cold systems and does not require a facing for high-temperature applications. For outdoor use, or where protection from physical damage is required, metal cladding such as galvanised steel or aluminium sheathing is recommended.

THERMAL PERFORMANCE

POLYWOOL SPI improves energy efficiency by reducing heat loss and maintaining desired operating temperatures. Thermal conductivity complies with ASTM C518 at 15°C mean temperature, with values as low as 0.300 W/mK.

DENSITY, SIZE & FACING

• Standard density: 80 kg/m³
• Sizes: 12.7 mm to 355 mm outside diameter
• Available thickness (mm): 20, 25, 30, 32, 38, 40, 50, 60, 65, 70, 75
• Facing options: Plain or Sisalation foil
SUITABILITY FOR STAINLESS STEEL
POLYWOOL SPI will not cause or accelerate corrosion of steel, stainless steel, copper, or aluminium due to its inorganic mineral composition. Tested in accordance with ASTM C665.

FIRE PERFORMANCE

Tested in accordance with:
• BS 476 Part 6 – Fire propagation
• BS 476 Part 7 – Surface spread of flame
• AS1530.3
When tested under AS1530 Part 3, SPI exhibits:
• Ignitability Index: 0
• Spread of Flame Index: 0
• Heat Evolved Index: 0
• Smoke Developed Index: 0–1
